Make It Last Forever: Proper Storage of Your Hair Extensions
We receive several questions about how to store your hair extensions in between installs. Check out these tips that will help protect your extensions so you can get the most bang for your buck. They may not last forever but quality care and proper storage can help your extensions last for 3-4 installations.
· Upon removing your extensions, wash and deep condition the hair and hang to air dry completely
· Once the hair is completely dried, roll your extensions into a tight bundle and secure with a hair tie (avoid using regular rubber bands)
· Wrap the hair in several layers of paper towels and seal the hair in a zip lock bag removing excess air from the bag
· Store the hair in a dry environment under 80 degrees to help prevent moisture.

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff…Part 2
The Quick-Style Guide
A quick-fix regimen when starting a workout program can be a real challenge for most women. When we get focused on fitness some of us will cut our hair short, get braids, or add hair extensions. Those are options that you can choose, but don't ever feel forced to have to change your style. There are ways to keep your hair styled without making an atypical change just to manage your hair. After your quick-fix shampoo and condition, you are ready for the next part.
- Step 1. Wrap your head with a towel while you dry off.
- Step 2. Remove the towel and lightly apply a leave-in conditioner.
- Step 3. Apply a sculptor setting lotion to your hairline. If your hair is curly, apply a moisturizer before the sculpting lotion, then smooth your hair back flat if it's short, or gather it into a ponytail using a cloth holder for longer hair.
- Step 4. Spray a sculpting mist to your hair and hairline, and then tie a satin scarf around the hairline.
- Step 5. Comb your hair into the desire quick-fix style.
Don’t Sweat It Points:
- Avoid conditioning shampoos, because they will add buildup.
- Use a clarifying shampoo with a pH range between 4.5 and 5.5.
- Rinse with a strong water force.
- You can enjoy your workouts and have great hair. Just remember to care for your body's fitness your hair as care for your hair's fitness.

STYLIST SPOTLIGHT: Latoya Kelley
I Heart Hair loves to showcase other talented men and women in the fashion industry who are making huge moves. Check out our featured stylist and some of the things she HEARTS!
Name: Latoya Kelley - Hairstylist
What all do you do?: I specialize in weaving, natural hair, cutting, and coloring.
How long have you been in the beauty/fashion industry?: I have been in the business professionally for 7 years.
How long have you been in the beauty/fashion industry?: When I wear my weave, I wash, condition, and style it every 7-10 days. I make sure to deep condition and treat my hair at least twice a month. I wear my weave for 3 months, and then I take it out, wash, treat, and trim my ends. I sometimes wear my own natural hair out for 2-4 weeks to let it breathe, but it all depends on the time of year and how I'm feeling. When I wear my own hair, I have to wash and condition it every week because my texture is fine and can get oily very fast.
What is your hair regimen?: I have so many products that I love to use, but I absolutely love my Tancho stick, It really helps to eliminate flyaways, smooth edges, and it has a great smell! I love Toni & Guy's S Factor line of shampoo and conditioner. It really aids in strengthening the hair, balances moisture, and adds great shine to tresses. I love Kenra's medium hold styling spray. I use this all the time on clients when they want their styles to last all day but not be hard as a rock. The hair still has softness and movement with this spray. I love Argan oil treatment. It really nourishes the hair and scalp without being too heavy on the hair.
What Do You Heart?: I heart my family, friends, and all clients because they are my extended family. I also heart all things beauty, music, and fashion. It's just something about this industry that excites me every day and I was definitely born to do this! This industry allows me to be as artistic as I want to be with no boundaries and I definitely Heart that!

WE HEART…Ojon Dry Recovery Intensive Hydrating 2 Minute Hair Mask
This two minutes intense moisturizing mask, yes we said mask, helps to rehydrated you hair. The formula contains Ojon oil, Blue Agave, Shea, and mango seed butters, that all work together to nourish and revitalizes hair from roots to ends. It helps seal in moisture and repels dirt and oil, keeping hair cleaner between washings. Water evaporates, cuticles become more brittle, more moisture is lost, and hair becomes drier. This simple mask used regularly breaks this dry cycle. Definitely worth the buy at just $29.50.

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff…Part 1
We all know that working out does help us feel and look better. It helps us to push back the hands of time as we age. But we also know that some of us have issues with working out because we don’t know what to do with our hair after we workout.
We’re here to tell you…do not sweat the small stuff when it comes to your health. That’s right: you can work out and still maintain great hair!
Here are some smart tips to challenge yourself on whether to workout versus not working out. If you have time to shower after a workout, you have time to do all that is necessary for your hair and scalp. By the time you finish your shower, you will have a clean and conditioned hair and scalp.
Clean and Condition
- Step 1. In the shower rinse your hair as you rinse your body.
- Step 2. Apply shampoo to your hair as you lather your body. Using an acid-balanced shampoo is safe on your hair, scalp, and body, and it saves time.
- Step 3. Rinse your hair and body.
- Step 4. Apply conditioner and let it sit while you shave your legs or lather your body one more time.
- Step 5. Rinse your hair as you rinse your body.
You are now clean and conditioned from head to toe.
Look out for Part 2 of Don't Sweat the Small Stuff.
