Glue-in vs. Sew-in
Which do you prefer? Change it up all the time or make it last for awhile? It is totally up to you if you prefer a glue-in versus a sew-in; they both have advantages and disadvantages. How we put together a quick list for your reference when making the choice…
Glue-in weaves...
- Flatter results after installation.
- Take less time.
- Budget friendly.
- Hard maintenance natural hair while wearing a glue-in.
- Don’t apply too much oil. This will loosen installation.
- Glue may cause damage hair and scalp. Please research what products are being used during installation also make sure you are not allergic to any of the products.
Sew-in weaves...
- Can be costly.
- Longevity (Last longer).
- Time consuming. Plan to take about 2 – 4 hours of your day for installation and styling.
- Easier to maintain routine maintenance of your natural and extension hair.
- Causes less damage or hair and scalp related issues if installed and maintained properly.
So the choice is yours but always remember to consultant with a licensed-stylist before making a choice on the best application.

STYLIST SPOTLIGHT: Sarah Pennington
STYLIST SPOTLIGHT: Sarah Pennington
I Heart Hair loves to showcase other talented men and women in the fashion/beauty industry who are making huge moves. Check out our featured stylist and some of the things she HEARTS!
Name: Sarah Pennington - Eyelash Extension Specialist
What all do you do?: I have been a makeup artist for many years, but specialize in eyelash extensions. Eyelash extensions are semi permanent synthetic eyelashes that are applied to one natural eyelash at a time. There are several different lengths, volumes, and curl options available that are mixed together to create a custom eyelash look for each client.
How long have you been in the beauty/fashion industry?: Well, I started my first job with Clinique in 1994! I have been doing makeup ever since, working for lines such as Laura Mercier and Chantecaille. I do special occasion and wedding makeup primarily now. As for eyelash extensions, I trained for the service in September of 2008 and have been doing them ever since.
What is your hair regimen?: I am pretty low maintenance when it comes to my fine, wavy/curly hair. I shampoo every 2-3 days, and use whatever curl product I happen to have in my closet, and blow dry with my Remington Airwave hair dryer, that has a special attachment to actually twirl my locks as they dry. I find it helps to keep my waves from getting frizzy and out of control. I do love to wear my Remy hair clip in extensions that I made myself, to give me extra volume.
What are some of your favorite products?: I love Bobbi Brown concealers, Laura Mercier foundations, my Clairisonic face cleaner, COTZ sunscreen, Fresh Twilight Glow facial illuminator, NARS Albatross highlighting.
What Do You Heart?: Black tea, snorkeling, great fitting jeans, Nest Moroccan Amber candle, a nice Scotch, Tokyo, fresh flowers, dark chocolate, super finds on craigslist and antique stores, and experiencing new cultures through traveling.
