There is no need to worry, because there are things you can do at home to protect your hair, nails, and skin until you find the perfect product.  Here are just a few items you might want to pick up from the grocery store.

Salmon

Make sure it is fresh, wild, and certainly not farm raised. Salmon is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, and is also very high in nail-strengthening protein. B-12 and iron are also found in salmon, which further aid in the development of a glossier shine.

Nuts may be the largest nutritional catalyst towards shiny hair. Brazil nuts are one of the best sources of selenium, a mineral responsible for improving overall scalp health. Throw in some walnuts, which contain alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid that may improve the overall condition of your newly-shined hair

Bananas

In addition to being a great addition to any fruit smoothie, bananas also bring the mineral silica to the table. Silica may improve the thickness of your hair, leading to hair that is both stronger and more durable.

Carrots

Carrots pack a lot of vitamin A, which not only leads to healthy scalp but improved vision as well. Including carrots as a salad topping, or juicing them whole can be a great way to aid in the fight against dry scalp — and subsequent dry hair.
